# HYPE Futures, ETPs, and Regulated Market Exposure

Direct HYPE ownership gives native asset exposure and can support staking or protocol use. Regulated futures can provide price exposure through a derivatives venue without moving HYPE into an onchain wallet. Public CFTC filings show HYPE Futures and HYPE Perp Style Futures certified by Coinbase Derivatives on May 18, 2026. Any ETP, trust, or fund exposure adds another wrapper whose structure must be assessed separately.

## Direct HYPE

The holder bears token price and custody risk and can potentially use the asset for staking, HyperEVM gas, or protocol staking requirements. Operational access depends on custody model.

## Regulated futures

A futures position lives inside a regulated derivatives account and is margined under the venue/intermediary framework. It can be cash settled and may use an index rather than delivery of HYPE.

Basis, margin, roll or perpetual-style mechanics, and intermediary risk replace some direct custody concerns.

## ETPs and funds

A listed product can hold HYPE directly, use derivatives, or follow an index depending on its prospectus. Fees, tracking error, creation/redemption, custody, and share-market liquidity determine how closely it follows HYPE.

## Which route fits

A treasury seeking protocol participation needs native HYPE. A traditional fund with a derivatives mandate may prefer regulated futures. A wealth client may only be permitted to hold a listed security wrapper.

Compare economic exposure after all fees and operational constraints rather than assuming every HYPE-linked product is interchangeable.
