Options and Structured Products on Hyperliquid

Options and structured products add nonlinear payoffs to Hyperliquid's spot, perp, lending, and staking stack, allowing users to trade volatility or package yield while introducing model, liquidity, and contract risk.

Perpetuals create roughly linear exposure to price. Options create nonlinear exposure because the right to buy or sell at a strike has a payoff that changes differently as price, time, and volatility move. Hyperliquid ecosystem protocols can combine options with vaults, lending, and native market hedges to build structured products that are more expressive than a directional perp.

Options change the risk variables

An option position depends on underlying price, implied volatility, time to expiry, strike, and other model inputs. A trader can be directionally correct and still lose because volatility falls or time decay dominates.

Structured products package legs

A vault or strategy can sell options, hedge with HyperCore perps, hold yield-bearing collateral, or combine multiple instruments into one tokenized return profile. The product's displayed APY can hide the fact that investors are effectively selling tail risk.

Liquidity matters more than model elegance

An option's theoretical value is not an executable price. Thin strikes and expiries can have wide spreads. A hedging strategy that requires frequent perp adjustment also pays execution and funding costs.

Protocol examples

Derive and Rysk are examples in the broader Hyperliquid ecosystem of options or structured-product infrastructure, while vault frameworks can package strategies around them.

Named protocols evolve, so the Academy should keep individual product pages review-dated and maintain this category page as the durable conceptual hub.

Risk checklist

Identify the payoff, maximum loss, collateral, liquidation if any, contract settlement, oracle, expiry, implied-volatility exposure, hedging method, counterparty or pool structure, and withdrawal constraints before treating a headline yield as comparable with lending.
